Simple sustainable style.

Their story

canvas believes in the beauty of imperfection. They also believe in excellent design, and their products are timeless—simple, chic and beautifully utilitarian.

Founded by Andrew Corrie in 2005, canvas is the result of Corrie’s travels and personal experiences with artisans. Corrie, who is a board member of Aid for Artisans, was inspired to leave his job in banking to help create economic opportunities for artisans around the world. With his eye for design and passion for sustainable materials, Corrie’s canvas has become a destination for home goods created by artisans and craftsmen from the U.S. and abroad.

"It's not about chasing each and every new trend; it's about asking people to invest in the things they truly believe in. Helping people help themselves is the key to building a better, more sustainable world," says Corrie. Through Creative Learning and Aid to Artisans, canvas has provided financial assistance to qualified craft producers around the world, including those in Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, and Macedonia. Aid to Artisans has spent 32 years creating economic opportunities for well over 100,000 artisans in more than 110 countries around the world.

Canvas also supports Housing Works, a New York-based non-profit that supports people living with HIV/AIDS through groundbreaking advocacy and lifesaving services. Longtime supporters of the organizations “Design on a Dime” benefit, canvas has helped Housing Works raise over $1 million for a housing expansion program in New York City in April 2013.

Why we love them

canvas has a style that is unmatched. They don’t adhere to any trends, in fact, they surpass them—and we love that.

Their commitment to exploring homewares is reflected throughout their line of imminently functional products. Porcelain bowls, sturdy tinware mugs and the finest linens incorporate themselves seamlessly into our everyday lives. No matter what your surroundings, canvas will complement them in the best way possible.

In addition to their aesthetic, we truly appreciate the canvas mission to give back. As a growing organization with a loyal following, canvas has set a precedent for high-quality goods that do more—they source their items sustainably whenever possible and they immerse themselves in the wellbeing of the artisans, craftsmen and organizations doing incredible work.
