Their story

“This is my story, an adventure of challenging the ordinary, sticking one’s neck out, and giving voices to voices that are not often heard.” - Greenola Founder, Jen Moran.

Like many of us, Jen Moran did not immediately know what she wanted to pursue in life. After beginning college in 2001, she realized her wanderlust was pulling her in different directions, and moved for the sake of adventure. An intelligent and business-savvy woman, Moran is also blessed with the left brain of an artist and designer. Upon being introduced to the concept of Fair Trade while running a Starbucks she became interested in sustainable business practices. Moran travelled to Bolivia with a nonprofit organization and realized her passion for empowering women and creating a revolutionary way to do good through business.

The manifestation of Moran’s impressive skill sets, Greenola is characterized by contemporary design with sustainably sourced materials that appeal to both the mainstream consumer and people seeking fair trade options.

Greenola is a social enterprise dedicated to empowering women artisans so they are able to support themselves, their families and to rise above poverty. Working directly with the women helps them to foster strong relationships and allows everyone to grow together. By allowing women to earn their own income, they not only strive to give women the independence and means they need to support their family, but help entire communities break the cycle of poverty.

Why we love them

Greenola is one of those companies that takes exactly what’s on-trend and makes it even better because they use sustainable materials and support women’s empowerment all around the world. Their brass jewelry pieces are exactly the Cleopatra-power woman statement necklaces we can’t get enough of and the fact that they are handmade.

We are also continually impressed by Jen’s adaptability to the market around her. Greenola constantly offers their own twist on what’s new, and because of Jen’s unique take on these trends we always seem to love every piece. For a long time there was a gap between the fair trade market and the mainstream accessories market. Greenola is helping to bring the two together in a way that is accessible, interesting and fun. We are always proud to don a Greenola piece and love telling the company's story when complimented.

Greenola also consistently strives to create new relationships and partnerships with artisans and vendors alike, because they know that giving back and ethical fashion is the future of sustainable commerce. Their dedication to fair trade and providing their artisans wages based on the true cost of production, and their partnership with Solidarity Bridge allows them to provide their Bolivian artisans access to quality healthcare. We love their passion for carrying on traditional practices and preserving the culture of the artists with whom they work, and above all, we just love their amazing, gorgeous, fashionable products.
